Years at CrossFit Crowned: 3

"As a single mom, it isn't easy to get to the gym after work so I've made it a priority to go to the noon class,..even if it means going back to work sweaty"

Caitlin King is our May AOTM! She has shown big determination this past year, especially these last few months attacking her weaknesses, working on nutrition, and even running!  You can tell she has some goals that she is chasing and is even “hating running less and less”. Caitlin is learning to fall in love with the process all over again and is beginning to RX the tougher weights for workouts, and tougher standard of movements, she even recently bumped up her attendance during the week! Caitlin is a staple member at the Noon class, and she is a classic example of someone who works a full day, works out on her lunch, and somehow summons energy to finish her work day and be prepared to tackle her daughter at the end of the day! Caitlin should be inspiring to many and show if you want to workout you will find the time! NO EXCUSES!

Give Us Your Story:
I was in one of my darkest times when I started following CrossFit. I had developed some unhealthy habits, mentally and physically. I researched CrossFit gyms in the area and discovered Crowned was so close to my home. It took me months of stalking the gyms Facebook/Instagram to finally reach out. There was a class going on the day I did a walk through. I was terrified to go into the gym.. I felt I had no place being there but when I walked in, a member gave me the biggest smile and it put me at ease. When I officially joined, I only came once or twice a week. I was so out of shape and embarrassed but I quickly realized the community was so supportive, no matter what level you were at. I did my first open 4 months into joining. I didn't even have the grip to do more than one tuck up. It put a little spark in me. However, it wasn't until the last year that I really put in the work, focused on the things I wanted to achieve, started to clean up my nutrition, and made CrossFit 100% apart of my life. Since then, I've made amazing friends that have turned into family and I have accomplished some HUGE things, mentally and physically. My daughter has also been a huge part of my journey and why I work so hard to better myself. She loves to watch mommy at the gym, jump into a WOD, if she can, and do her own little workouts at home. She's also the reason I am a religious "nooner".
What CrossFit Means To You:
CrossFit has been life changing and saving for me. CrossFit's apart of me. It makes up a huge part of who I am today. I owe a lot of the positive changes to CrossFit and the work I've put into become a much better person. CrossFit also means Family. Everyone in the gym has become family. We support each other, in and out of the gym. We cheer each other on. We laugh, we cry, we bitch..... we do it all together and I'm truly thankful for the relationships I've formed. The family is what keeps me coming back.
Advice For Someone New Or Considering Trying CrossFit:
Just DO IT. But when you do, make sure it's at Crowned because you will not find a community like ours anywhere else.
What is your favorite movement in CrossFit:
Any heavy lifting. I really enjoy testing my strength and I love hitting a good PR!
