"Crossfit is a fun and competitive way to stay active and really helps me to maintain a healthy, but balanced life"

We welcome Dave as August’s Athlete of the Month!  His gym personality is quiet and humble, but he is one heck of an athlete!  Dave loves CrossFit for the spontaneity and competitiveness, and values that this style of training will keep him healthy and strong for years to come.  He works hard to balance family, work and his health and we are proud to call him a member of the Crowned team!!!  Keep that hustle Dave!

Give Us Your Story:
I live in Sylvania with my wife, Emily, and our three kids, Brayden (10), Zoey (8), and Cohen (5), and our dog Shadow. We're pretty active and the kids keep us busy with all of their sports and activities. In my free time, I like to play with the kids, walk the dog, hike, read, listen to podcasts (usually while walking the dog), and am a big Cleveland sports fan, as well as a Nebraska football fan (my parents both went there). I grew up in the Youngstown area, went to Ohio University, then lived in Charlotte, NC for 8 years after college.
What CrossFit Means To You:
CrossFit is a fun and competitive way to stay active and really helps me to maintain a healthy, but balanced life. I think it motivates me to stay active and healthy, but also is a constant reminder that we're all just doing the best we can each day and maybe we should give ourselves a break sometimes. I also think it's a great way for me to be healthy for the long term. As I get older, I'm more concerned about being healthy to be active with my kids than being able to hit a PR. I think it's become more about longevity than anything else.
Advice For Someone New Or Considering Trying CrossFit:
Show up and do your best. None of us are ever going to be Games athletes, but you keep showing up and doing your best, you'll improve and it will get really fun.
What is your favorite movement in CrossFit:
