Years at CrossFit Crowned: 1

"CrossFit has completely exceeded my expectations and now I can never see my life without it!"

Mikaela is February Athlete of the Month! Well deserved and an easy decision with the hard work and progress she’s been showing. Mikaela has been a very consistent hard working member since she decided to join the gym last spring. She never runs from a workout and she is always striving to work on her weaknesses and doesn’t hesitate to ask for advice on how to improve. Even though she may be a bit quiet in class sometimes, you will always see her in here working hard every chance she gets with her busy schedule.

Give Us Your Story:
For my entire life, I have always been active and played many sports - softball, volleyball, cross country, gymnastics, and track. Being active has always been a way for me to relieve stress and has always been something that has been important for me to prioritize every week - and even more important now with balancing attending graduate school, working, and beginning my practicum and internship experiences this year. When I first discovered CrossFit, I was taking time off from graduate school and trying to find something new and more challenging to just become a stronger individual. I have always loved distance running and lifting weights, but I felt that the workout routines that I was doing just weren't challenging enough and that I needed more guidance. CrossFit has completely exceeded my expectations and now I can never see my life without it!
What CrossFit Means To You:
CrossFit to me means having a positive environment and outlet to not only relieve stress from my day to day life, but having a sense of community and support from all the coaches and athletes on a daily basis! No matter where you are at in your CrossFit journey, everyone at this gym is so welcoming, always hypes each other up and is 100% there for you in celebrating all victories, no matter how big or small they are to you in that moment.
Advice For Someone New Or Considering Trying CrossFit:
Absolutely give it a try! There are so many ways to have workouts scaled down to your fitness level and the coaches are always willing to break down the moments as many times as you need in order for you to be successful. You absolutely do not need to feel intimidated by those Rx workouts being a beginner because the coaches will always reiterate that it is totally okay to scale down to the weight and/or movements that you need in order to be able to do the workout. Upping your weight and getting the gymnastics movements will come with lots of practice, patience and time!
What is your favorite movement in CrossFit:
Too many - Front squat, Front Rack Lunges, Snatches, Clean and Jerk, Toes to Bar, and Box Jumps
